Why is hydration important?

Good hydration saves lives

 

HYDRATION - Water makes up two thirds of your body. It is therefore vital that you drink enough fluid to maintain a healthy balance.

 

Too many people get dehydrated by simply not drinking enough fluid or by losing fluids through exercise/perspiration and not replacing them.

How much fluid do we need to drink when exercising each day?

Good daily hydration can help to prevent:-

 

  • Headaches
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Kidney Stones
  • Skin Conditions
  • Poor Health

Symptoms of poor hydration include:-

 

  • Pain when urinating
  • Dry mouth, lips or eyes
  • Thirst
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • Tiredness
  • Lack of concentration

You should always drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. For good hydration you need to drink at least 2.25 litres or 4 pints.

 

The key is to drink regularly throughout the day. Spread your fluid intake into small amounts, but at regular intervals. Always carry a water bottle with you, make it your new habit as apart of your lifestyle change.

 

Starting every day with a
good drink of water also helps to kick-start your metabolism, and we know that's a good thing.
